The Register of Deeds Office is governed by the North Carolina General Statutes and the law charges the Register of Deeds with the integrity, completeness, accuracy, and safe-keeping of all public records recorded in the office. A register serves a four-year elected term and serves as custodian and manager of a large amount of public records.
