The Emergency Services Department now encompasses the Inspections Department-Code Enforcement Division (listed as separate department on this webiste); the Emergency Management Division; the Emergency Medical Services Division; and the Fire Marshal’s Office.
The Emergency Services Department is responsible for Emergency medical Services; Emergency Management Services; Code Enforcement Services; 9-1-1 Data, and Hyde County’s telecommunications system. The current Director is Mark O’Mara.
The Administrative Assistant for Emergency Services is also the billing technician/bookkeeper for Hyde County Emergency Medical Services. This position is currently held by Shelly Carawan.
The 9-1-1 database/GIS Technician/Telecommunications Coordinator will maintain administer and enhance the 9-1-1 and computer-aided dispatch operated in the Hyde County Public safety Center’s Communication Office. This position develops and utilizes the county GIS, provides customized maps, and trains personnel in other County Departments to utilize GIS. This position also oversees the maintenance and development of all County telephone and data systems. This position is currently held by Justin Gibbs.
The Code Enforcement Officer (Inpsections is listed as separate department on this webiste)performs the functions of building inspector and some fire inspections. This position is currently filled by Jerry Hardison.
